Session 2: Assignment One Question

Question:

Answer the following questions after viewing the video:

1. Which departments within the company are integrated within the Order-to-Delivery process ?

2. Which steps are included in the Order-to-Delivery process ?

3. What factors would you consider when deciding whether ERP is suitable or not for a small business ?

1. The video shown that sales and marketing department, the warehouse and shipping/logistics department are integrated within the order-to-delivery process.

2. The step of order-to-delivery are the following:

Step 1: Order from customer and check with the business system whether the product is in warehouse or not.

Step 2: Confirm an order and fill the application (if available) for ordering or create the sales order form via online.

Step 3: Sales manager will contact with customer to confirm what did the customer order and confirm the date and time of delivery and receiving.

3. I will consider whether the ERP is effectively and suitable the kind of business whatever it is just a small scale of business, if it is effective, it should assist to easy and well operate and process most of companies softly as well as reduce mistake by hand made.

  1. For Q3, would you also regard costs (e.g. financial, user training, disruption to the business) and the extent of business process reengineering to be important factors in deciding whether or not to use ERP ?
